ٱلْعَلَق

Al-Alaq

(Clot of Blood)

بِسْمِ ٱللَّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful

Surah 96 - Al-Alaq - 1

ٱقْرَأْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ

Read: In the Name of your Lord who created.
Surah 96 - Al-Alaq - 2

خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ

Created man from a clot.
Surah 96 - Al-Alaq - 3

ٱقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ ٱلْأَكْرَمُ

Read: And your Lord is the Most Generous.
Surah 96 - Al-Alaq - 4

ٱلَّذِى عَلَّمَ بِٱلْقَلَمِ

He who taught by the pen.
Surah 96 - Al-Alaq - 5

عَلَّمَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ

Taught man what he never knew.
Surah 96 - Al-Alaq - 6

كَلَّآ إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ لَيَطْغَىٰٓ

In fact, man oversteps all bounds.
Surah 96 - Al-Alaq - 7

أَن رَّءَاهُ ٱسْتَغْنَىٰٓ

When he considers himself exempt.
Surah 96 - Al-Alaq - 8

إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلرُّجْعَىٰٓ

But to your Lord is the return.
Surah 96 - Al-Alaq - 9

أَرَءَيْتَ ٱلَّذِى يَنْهَىٰ

Have you seen him who prevents?
Surah 96 - Al-Alaq - 10

عَبْدًا إِذَا صَلَّىٰٓ

A servant when he prays?
Surah 96 - Al-Alaq - 11

أَرَءَيْتَ إِن كَانَ عَلَى ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ

Do you think he is upon guidance?
Surah 96 - Al-Alaq - 12

أَوْ أَمَرَ بِٱلتَّقْوَىٰٓ

Or advocates righteousness?
Surah 96 - Al-Alaq - 13

أَرَءَيْتَ إِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ

Do you see how he disbelieved and turned away?
Surah 96 - Al-Alaq - 14

أَلَمْ يَعْلَم بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَرَىٰ

Does he not know that God sees?
Surah 96 - Al-Alaq - 15

كَلَّا لَئِن لَّمْ يَنتَهِ لَنَسْفَعًۢا بِٱلنَّاصِيَةِ

No. If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock.
Surah 96 - Al-Alaq - 16

نَاصِيَةٍۢ كَـٰذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٍۢ

A deceitful, sinful forelock.
Surah 96 - Al-Alaq - 17

فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَهُۥ

Let him call on his gang.
Surah 96 - Al-Alaq - 18

سَنَدْعُ ٱلزَّبَانِيَةَ

We will call the Guards.
Surah 96 - Al-Alaq - 19

كَلَّا لَا تُطِعْهُ وَٱسْجُدْ وَٱقْتَرِب ۩

No, do not obey him; but bow down, and come near.
