ٱلنَّبَأ

An-Naba'

(The Great News)

بِسْمِ ٱللَّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful

Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 1

عَمَّ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ

What are they asking one another about?
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 2

عَنِ ٱلنَّبَإِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ

About the Great Event.
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 3

ٱلَّذِى هُمْ فِيهِ مُخْتَلِفُونَ

About which they disagree.
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 4

كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ

Surely, they will find out.
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 5

ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ

Most certainly, they will find out.
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 6

أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ مِهَـٰدًۭا

Did We not make the earth a cradle?
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 7

وَٱلْجِبَالَ أَوْتَادًۭا

And the mountains pegs?
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 8

وَخَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ أَزْوَٰجًۭا

And created you in pairs?
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 9

وَجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتًۭا

And made your sleep for rest?
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 10

وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلَّيْلَ لِبَاسًۭا

And made the night a cover?
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 11

وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلنَّهَارَ مَعَاشًۭا

And made the day for livelihood?
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 12

وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعًۭا شِدَادًۭا

And built above you seven strong ones?
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 13

وَجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجًۭا وَهَّاجًۭا

And placed a blazing lamp?
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 14

وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلْمُعْصِرَٰتِ مَآءًۭ ثَجَّاجًۭا

And brought down from the clouds pouring water?
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 15

لِّنُخْرِجَ بِهِۦ حَبًّۭا وَنَبَاتًۭا

To produce with it grains and vegetation?
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 16

وَجَنَّـٰتٍ أَلْفَافًا

And luxuriant gardens?
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 17

إِنَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيقَـٰتًۭا

The Day of Sorting has been appointed.
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 18

يَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِى ٱلصُّورِ فَتَأْتُونَ أَفْوَاجًۭا

The Day when the Trumpet is blown, and you will come in droves.
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 19

وَفُتِحَتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتْ أَبْوَٰبًۭا

And the sky is opened up, and becomes gateways.
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 20

وَسُيِّرَتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَابًا

And the mountains are set in motion, and become a mirage.
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 21

إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتْ مِرْصَادًۭا

Hell is lying in ambush.
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 22

لِّلطَّـٰغِينَ مَـَٔابًۭا

For the oppressors, a destination.
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 23

لَّـٰبِثِينَ فِيهَآ أَحْقَابًۭا

Where they will remain for eons.
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 24

لَّا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرْدًۭا وَلَا شَرَابًا

They will taste therein neither coolness, nor drink.
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 25

إِلَّا حَمِيمًۭا وَغَسَّاقًۭا

Except boiling water, and freezing hail.
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 26

جَزَآءًۭ وِفَاقًا

A fitting requital.
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 27

إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ لَا يَرْجُونَ حِسَابًۭا

For they were not anticipating any reckoning.
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 28

وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا كِذَّابًۭا

And they denied Our signs utterly.
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 29

وَكُلَّ شَىْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَـٰهُ كِتَـٰبًۭا

But We have enumerated everything in writing.
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 30

فَذُوقُوا۟ فَلَن نَّزِيدَكُمْ إِلَّا عَذَابًا

So taste! We will increase you only in suffering.
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 31

إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا

But for the righteous there is triumph.
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 32

حَدَآئِقَ وَأَعْنَـٰبًۭا

Gardens and vineyards.
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 33

وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتْرَابًۭا

And splendid spouses, well matched.
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 34

وَكَأْسًۭا دِهَاقًۭا

And delicious drinks.
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 35

لَّا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًۭا وَلَا كِذَّٰبًۭا

They will hear therein neither gossip, nor lies.
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 36

جَزَآءًۭ مِّن رَّبِّكَ عَطَآءً حِسَابًۭا

A reward from your Lord, a fitting gift.
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 37

رَّبِّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ۖ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ مِنْهُ خِطَابًۭا

Lord of the heavens and the earth, and everything between them—The Most Merciful—none can argue with Him.
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 38

يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلرُّوحُ وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ صَفًّۭا ۖ لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابًۭا

On the Day when the Spirit and the angels stand in row. They will not speak, unless it be one permitted by the Most Merciful, and he will say what is right.
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 39

ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمُ ٱلْحَقُّ ۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ مَـَٔابًا

That is the Day of Reality. So whoever wills, let him take a way back to his Lord.
Surah 78 - An-Naba' - 40

إِنَّآ أَنذَرْنَـٰكُمْ عَذَابًۭا قَرِيبًۭا يَوْمَ يَنظُرُ ٱلْمَرْءُ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ ٱلْكَافِرُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى كُنتُ تُرَٰبًۢا

We have warned you of a near punishment—the Day when a person will observe what his hands have produced, and the faithless will say, “O, I wish I were dust.”
Summarized notes on Surah An-Naba'

Is it about the Last Day that disbelievers disagree? There is no doubt about it. They will come to know. God has created the entire earth, heavens, and other signs. Surely, time of Day of Decision is fixed. Then, Hell shall be the resort for the insolent - the ones who denied the Day and revelations.

Everything is recorded in a Book. Those who fear God will get Paradise that Day. So, seek recourse to God. Disbelievers will regret.
